Privacy Policy

Overview

PluckUp is a Chrome extension that helps you build structured AI prompts from web page content. We are committed to your privacy — PluckUp is designed so that your data stays on your device. We do not operate servers, collect analytics, or track your browsing activity.

Data We Do Not Collect

PluckUp does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

  • Browsing history or page URLs
  • Page content, HTML, or screenshots
  • Personal information (name, email, location)
  • Usage analytics or telemetry
  • Cookies or tracking identifiers

Data Stored Locally

All data PluckUp uses is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage APIs:

  • Selection state — The elements you select and your comments are stored in session storage (per tab) and are automatically cleared when the tab is closed.
  • OpenAI API key — If you choose to use voice dictation, your OpenAI API key is stored in local storage on your device. It is never sent to PluckUp or any third party — it is only used to communicate directly with OpenAI's API.

Browser Permissions

PluckUp requests the following Chrome permissions, each for a specific purpose:

  • activeTab — Access the content of the current tab only when you activate PluckUp.
  • clipboardWrite — Copy the generated prompt to your clipboard when you export.
  • storage — Save your API key and per-tab selection state locally.
  • scripting — Inject the PluckUp interface into the active page.
  • offscreen — Access the microphone for voice dictation in a secure offscreen document.

Third-Party Services

PluckUp connects to one external service, and only when you explicitly opt in:

  • OpenAI Whisper API — If you use voice dictation, audio is sent to OpenAI's transcription API using your own API key. This connection is made directly from your browser to OpenAI. PluckUp does not proxy, store, or have access to the audio data or transcription results. OpenAI's use of this data is governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

If you do not use voice dictation, PluckUp makes zero network requests.

Microphone Access

Microphone access is requested only when you initiate voice dictation. The audio is recorded temporarily in memory, sent to OpenAI for transcription, and then discarded. No audio is ever stored on disk or transmitted to PluckUp.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third parties. Since we don't collect data, there is nothing to share.

Children's Privacy

PluckUp is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of PluckUp after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
